Sean Keys is making a serious case for another shot with the Blue Jays.

The 23-year-old already has 18 doubles, 27 home runs, and 73 RBIs across 93 minor-league games this season.

That's the kind of power output that doesn't stay buried in Triple-A for long.

Keys got his first big-league cameo earlier this year, playing 12 games and hitting his first career home run.

He also struggled during that stint, going 6-for-36 with 13 strikeouts, and it landed him right back in Buffalo.

Since returning, something's clicked. He's found his stroke again in a way that's hard to ignore.

In August alone, Keys is hitting .338 with a 1.150 OPS, four doubles, six home runs, and 18 RBIs over 18 games.

Why he could be exactly what Toronto's DH spot needs

Fifteen runs scored in 18 games is the kind of month that forces a front office to pay attention.

George Springer has handled a chunk of the DH duties for Toronto this season, but that role could use fresh legs late in a long year.

Keys pairing with Springer in some kind of DH platoon isn't a stretch given the power he's shown all season.

Toronto is chasing a wild-card spot, and offense has been a real problem for this lineup at points this year.

His first cameo didn't go the way anyone hoped, but that's often how a young hitter's first look plays out.

This time, the numbers in Buffalo suggest he's a different hitter than the one who got overwhelmed back in the spring.

Whether the Blue Jays call him up before rosters expand in September, or wait until it's mandatory, the bat is doing everything it can to force the issue.
